Andrew Shaw and Simon Walters successfully prosecute London drug-runner charged with murder

Andrew Shaw, leading Simon Walters, recently concluded the prosecution case against Hassiem Baqir, a 20 year old drug runner from South London. The court had heard how his victim, 38 year old Steve Stannard, was stabbed twice in the back and three times in the front, he wounds perforating his lung and his heart. His dog, a border collie called Trixie, was also stabbed. Baqir denied his murder but admitted dealing drugs from Mr Stannard's home.
Judge Anthony Bate, sentencing Baqir to life imprisonment, said he had "showed a callous indifference to Steven's fate after he had been stabbed". See links to press coverage below:
