Claire Matthews Successfully Concludes Child Abuse, Neglect And ‘Blackmail’ Case.
30 May 2018
Claire has recently concluded the prosecution of a case described by the consultant paediatrician as the worst case he had experienced in 20 years.
Further to appearing at the initial trial in February 2018 (see report here), Claire successfully concluded a secondary trial emanating from the same offence. At the conclusion of the initial trial, Monica Rudaityte’s partner Deividas Subacius was jailed for 17 years for actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm against an eighteen month old child and blackmail of the child’s grandparents.
Claire Matthews told Peterborough Crown Court how Rudaityte had been in the house at the time and "did nothing to prevent" the attack. Monica Rudaityte admitted neglect and was jailed for four years and nine months. Police say the child "has no lasting injuries and is now flourishing".
