Joanne Eley obtains acquittal for man charged with historic sex offences

1 February 2019

Joanne Eley recently represented a 60 year old who had been charged with sexually assaulting three schoolgirls over twenty years ago. The man commented to the investigating Police officers that being told about the allegations made by the alleged victims, who had been regular visitors to his house, had been “the biggest shock of his life”. Giving evidence during his trial, the man dismissed the allegations as “pure madness and fantasy”. He broke down in tears as the foreman of the jury returned the not guilty verdicts.
