Richard Heller Commences Gatwick Airport Valet Parking Case
11 June 2018
Richard Heller, instructed by West Sussex County Council Trading Standards, recently started a three week trial at Brighton Crown Court concerning an airport valet parking ‘scam’. Trading under the name of London Parking Gatwick Ltd, the defendant Asad Malik has been charged with six counts of fraudulent trading and unfair and misleading commercial practice between October 2015 and August 2016.
It is alleged that Malik made more than £1 million over two years in the scam, where he used a picture of the car park at Borders General Hospital on his unapproved London Parking Gatwick Ltd website. Victims were told their cars would be safe and secure in locations with CCTV and 24-hour security guards. Opening the case, Richard Heller said the cars were actually used for joyrides and to tow other cars before being parked in field unlocked or with keys stuck to the windscreen.
