In the news this week, the Home Office has been criticised for using an algorithm to determine the status of visa applications. Is ‘streaming’ a conveyor belt technique when only the nuances of human decision making will suffice? Olivia Dwan is a pupil barrister. She has enjoyed gaining exposure to a range of criminal cases, including sexual offences, violent crime and drugs offences. She has assisted in Immigration matters and is looking to build a practice in immigration law. She recently advised on disclosure in a Licensing prosecution by a Local Authority and also assisted with an appeal against conviction in a firearms case.
