WAYNE CLEAVER, LEADING PHILIP FARR, SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES OPERATION KEY

Wayne Cleaver and Philip Farr have secured convictions of all defendants in a four weeks trial at St Albans. The case was the culmination of an under-cover investigation into people trafficking from SE Asia to the UK. A network of conspirators targeted the vulnerable then transported them in horrendous conditions across the globe before finally being ferried in a boat across the English Channel. The migrants were then to be used as ‘slave’ labour to repay their debt. The case involved a myriad of circumstantial evidence, including mobile phone data, cell site date, observations and covert surveillance. All defendants were convicted and sentence to deterrent terms of imprisonment for what the Judge described as a “professional well organised conspiracy purely motivated by financial gain”.
